Platipus provide a range of highly efficient ARGS® anchoring systems that can be used with most geotextiles/ geosynthetics to manage slope erosion, shallow slides and deep seated failures commonly caused by poor drainage, water saturation and insufficient vegetation. We also offer the innovative Plati-Drain solution to significantly decrease pore water pressure behind retaining walls and within clay slopes.
Platipus first invented the tree anchoring system three decades ago. Our systems have been selected for prestigious landscapes such as the Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi and Al Wajba Palace, Qatar; the Platipus Tree Anchoring systems secure, stabilize and irrigate newly planted trees across the world with below and above ground systems. Our innovative design team develop solutions for the most challenging sites: on promenades and podiums, in palaces and parks, we discreetly anchor trees up to 20m high using simple, lightweight tools.
For rooftop planting the new D-MAN system uses lightweight, robust and recycled plastic cells in place of traditional concrete/ timber deadmen without impacting the waterproofing of the planting area.
For planting on a podium or in concrete the Platipus Eyebolt system can secure trees directly to the planting rings or containers in the shallowest planting pits.
We offer the award winning "Piddler" tree irrigation and aeration system which delivers water directly to the root zone with minimal waste. In addition, we are able to offer the new Platipus Rootbarrier made from recycled polyethylene which comes in a variety of sizes.
To control the buoyancy of submerged pipelines in areas at risk from rising levels of ground water, Platipus Anchoring Systems are a cost effective solution that can be rapidly deployed either before or after the pipeline is laid. With no requirement for heavy or expensive installation equipment the risk to the environment is dramatically reduced in comparison to traditional methods. Our anchors are corrosion resistant and do not need cathodic protection.
Platipus Earth Anchoring Systems are ideally suitable for marine applications in the most difficult and challenging conditions. We offer a range of anchoring systems made from highest grade stainless steel and aluminium bronze for a design life expectancy from 5 year temporary use to 120 year permanent applications. Platipus Anchors can be driven into the most difficult ground conditions using equipment commonly used by marine contractors.
Recognizing the importance of the anchor point and end post kit for trellising applications, Platipus has developed a range of standard anchoring systems that are composed of high grade stainless steel wire with a 25 year design life and ultimate load up to 2000kg in the right soil conditions. Our anchors can be installed rapidly into chalk, compacted and stony soils and are suitable for general maintenance and new establishments. We also supply flexible end post kits for wooden or metal posts to suit all budgets.
Platipus have designed specific ground anchor systems to meet the refurbishment and improvement of communication and electricity distribution networks. They can be used to anchor wood poles/ stays, mobile satellites, antennas, masts, power line crossing, tower refurbishment/ replacement and conductor restringing. In contrast to traditional methods, our anchors are rapidly installed without heavy equipment and they can be immediately proof tested.
